First Qualifier Recap

On March 6th, we ran our match day for FTC Qualifiers. Throughout the day, we had six matches in which we achieved 5, 10, 5, 9, 28, and 40 points consecutively. While we improved drastically, we faced many challenges. For instance, after our third match, a piece of our ramp broke off. We innovatively used cardboard cut out from our pizza box from lunch as our new piece. The pizza box successfully worked for two whole matches. During the qualifiers, we also had many visitors over zoom where we discussed our team, our robot, the qualifiers, and the 2020-2021 challenge. This discussion was extremely successful and informative on both ends.

The following week, we had our judging presentation and call-back interview. Our presentation ran smoothly due to lots of practice, but the questions were tailored to building and coding because of how technical they were. In the call-back, the questions that judges asked were mainly about our mentors: the work dynamic and how we originally connected with them.
