SECOND QUALIFIER RECAP

On April 24th, we had our second qualifier of the 2020-2021 season. Throughout the day, we had six matches in which we achieved 26, 29, 42, 30, 36, and 27 points consecutively which totaled to 190 points. In this qualifier we were very consistent with our performance despite the major changes that occurred. At the beginning of the day, we had to adapt and adjust our odometry wheels because our robot didn’t fit into the sizing cube. Later on, we realized our distance sensor was not working as consistent as we had hoped for, so we added an additional distance sensor which granted us more accurate readings.

We had our judging presentation and call-back interview the following week. Our presentation, which we had edited since our first qualifier, went well, and the judges asked questions that encompassed all our sub-teams. During the call-back interview, a variety of judges met with us and asked us questions during the call-back interview.

During this qualifier, we received the Inspire Award! The Inspire Award is an FTC award given to the team that best acts with Gracious Professionalism on and off the field. Gracious Professionalism is the blend of competition and cooperation that sits at the heart of FIRST. This team shows success in performing the task of designing and building a robot, as well as being a strong ambassador and role model for FIRST Programs. This reward also requires a high quality Engineering Portfolio.
